Mount Pleasant Neighborhood

Mount Pleasant is one of Vancouver’s oldest neighborhoods, an eclectic collection of residents, distinct businesses, and new and historic buildings.

It runs from False Creek southeast and up the slope toward the busy Mount  Pleasant shopping district.

Early expectations were that this neighborhood would develop as Vancouver’s fashionable “uptown.”

Its proximity to the business district of Vancouver and the availability of a quality water supply made the area an ideal place for early industry and settlement.

There are still has many significant homes dating from the 1890’s through to the 1920’s.

Many notable residential buildings range from a collection of modest houses from the community’s first phase of development, to more substantial and elaborate Queen Anne/Edwardian type residential buildings.

Many first-time homeowners and young professionals, as well as a growing number of families, call this area home.
