Vancouver Neighborhoods: Yaletown

January 30, 2018

Yaletown Neighborhood

Yaletown provides the serenity of an oceanfront seawall.

It may be the best place to live in terms of location, which consequently makes it one of the most expensive neighborhoods.

The desire to be accessible to the downtown businesses in addition to the busy culture in the core, makes this a popular area.

The majority of the  residents living here are young professionals between 20 and 40.

The neighborhood is composed of families, wealthy penthouse owners and a growing number of empty-nesters.

The best way to describe this historic district of Yaletown is “Heritage meets modern”.

The most significant historic landmark is the famous Roundhouse Community Centre.

This was once the terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway(1886).

The Roundhouse is today a vibrant community center, dedicated to arts and learning.

The railway docks from this era have as a result been converted into cafe patios and restaurants.

The neighborhood is mostly filled with warehouses, most of which have been converted into residential loft spaces.

As a result, the land along with the warehouse district has been transformed into one of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods.

Yaletown offers an opportunity to explore cool restaurants and trendy shops along the heritage brick walkways.

The sidewalk cafes and leafy parks provide a  great escape within the city of Vancouver.

An easy access to the False Creek marina make this area a playground for Vancouver’s elite.
